    BMW Motorrad's support was integral to the success of Long Way Round and Long Way Down. Ewan, Charley and their cameraman, Claudio Von Planta, were given three special-edition Enduro R1150 GS Adventure all-terrain motorcycles - designed and engineered for long distances and off-road terrain. BMW offered considerable technical help and practical riding equipment to Ewan McGregor, Charley Boorman and their support team. The BMW GS celebrates its '30 Years GS' as the most successful BMW model series ever.

    Michelin were the official tyre supplier of Long Way Down through Europe and Africa. Ewan and Charley used Michelin Anakee tyres on their BMW R1200 GS bikes and BMW R1150 GS. The team found the tyres delivered the best combination of wet and dry grip, mileage, handling and comfort, combined with some off-road ability. The ultimate adventure touring tyre's great traction delivered a feeling of safety and security and reliable all-terrain performance.

    Mitsubishi is renowned for its quality, reliability and off-road ability. Mitsubishi Motors UK provided two robust 4x4 drive vehicles as support for the gruelling 20,000-mile Long Way Round trip from London to New York, heading east via Russia. The Mitsubishi Shogun Warrior and L200 Animal Double Cab Pick Up provided an essential back-up service carrying fundamental supplies such as water, fuel and medical kits plus the film crew themselves, along with their camera kit.

    Nissan supported the Long Way Down road-crew with two 4x4 Nissan Patrol cars. At the forefront of 4x4 technology, Nissan's vehicles were tested over the toughest terrain, as they battled desert, mountain passes and rivers. So successful was the partnership that Nissan developed a special edition Nissan Navara to commemorate the series. It became their fastest selling Navara of all time.

    The Nokia 6110 Navigator was the official handset used by Ewan and Charley to navigate their way on their 2nd landmark motorcycle adventure, Long Way Down.

    Ewan, Charley and Long Way Down team were especially pleased to use Nokia's latest Navigator, as it met all the media, communications and navigational requirements in one handset. It's most handy feature being 3G-enabled, its 2-mega-pixel camera and video calling.
